The unit is conveniently located just a 5 minute walk from the Trastevere Train Station. The train from the airport stops at this station making arrival and departure as simple as possible. The Number 8 Local Tram also stops at the station and terminates at Largo Argentina in the historical center in 15 minutes. From Largo Argentina many of the main historical attractions of Rome such as Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Venezia and the Trevi Fountain are all within walking distance as is the Vatican. A wide variety of public transportation provides connection to all other sections of Rome. The Trastevere district is filled with trattorias, restaurants and pizzerias as well as open air markets with plentiful fresh vegetables & fruits. Just on the other side of the bridge on the Tiber river the Testaccio district offers cultural events at the new MACRO Museum located in a former slaughterhouse. Trastevere itself is full of interesting places to visit such as the Piazza S. Maria and its church; the old and narrow alleys all around the district which retain all the charm of the past; the San Francesco a Ripa church that has the cell (still intact) in which St. Francis lived during his time in Rome; and where the remains of the well known metaphysical painter Giorgio De Chirico are preserved. Other interesting places in Trastevere include the Botanical Gardens, Piazza Trilussa and its fountain, and the Regina Coeli jail with its 17th century interior.
